Musandam - Khasab Tour

12 hours

Easy

Explore Musandam Khasab on a traditional dhow cruise through majestic fjords and serene beaches.
A full day in the Musandam peninsula, the Omani enclave often called the Norway of Arabia, where the Hajar mountains fall straight into the sea and carve deep inlets known as khors. Transfers run from fixed points in Deira and Bur Dubai, with border assistance provided - bring your passport. From Khasab, a traditionally decorated Omani wooden dhow sails out into Khor Sham, past sheer rock walls and remote white-sand beaches, and stops at Telegraph Island, where a British telegraph relay station stood in the 1860s. Dolphins commonly escort the boat, and the dhow anchors for swimming and snorkelling in exceptionally clear water; snorkelling equipment, life jackets and towels are provided. An Omani lunch is served on deck with fruit, limited soft drinks and unlimited water. It is a long day with substantial driving at each end, so it suits travellers who want the landscape rather than a quick outing. Bring swimwear, sunscreen and a hat.

This tour crosses into Oman, so a valid original passport is compulsory - not a copy, and not an Emirates ID. Holders of a single-entry UAE visa cannot cross the border; a multiple-entry visa or your own national passport is required. Border assistance is provided, but entry is at the discretion of the Omani authorities and some nationalities require a visa arranged in advance, so check your own requirements before booking. Allow for border formalities in each direction; the total day is around 12 hours door to door. Transfers are shared and depart from two fixed points, not from your hotel: City Centre Deira metro station in Deira, and Sharaf DG metro station in Bur Dubai - Sharaf DG is the Green Line station that was called Al Fahidi until 2020, so look for Sharaf DG on the metro map. Confirm which point and what time you are booked for, and arrive early: the coach cannot wait. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses; snorkelling equipment, life jackets and towels are provided on board. Take something for seasickness if you are prone to it. Do not book a flight for the same evening. Note that travel insurance for the Oman leg is your own responsibility.
